An Ultimate photography guide to Sikh Wedding
December 01, 2021
We have been in the wedding industry for years and in those years, we have compiled a list of advice that will make your wedding photography experience the best and smoothest it can be. Nothing makes us happier than knowing that we can help set you up for the most successful and stress-free day as possible.
Schedule
We can’t stress this enough. Having a proper schedule sets the entire tone for your wedding. We love having an understanding and balance of the wants and needs of your big day and photography expectations.
Here is how much time we suggest allocating for each section:
    • Bride Getting ready: 3 Hours (Approx. timings: 6 am to 9 am)
    • Groom Getting ready: 3 Hours (Approx. timings: 6 am to 9 am)
    • Ardaas, Milni and snacks: 30min - 1 hour (Depending on how many people)
    • Wedding ceremony: 2 hours (Approx. timings: 11 am to 1 pm, please discuss this with your gurudwara officials)
    • Park Shoot: 1.5 hours
    • Doli at Bride’s house: 1 hour
    • Paani Vaar at Groom’s house: 1 hour
Of course, every wedding is different and unique. But these general tips and time slots will allow us the right amount of time to photograph each important moment of your wedding day.
TIP: Take into consideration some wiggle room when scheduling. Sometimes your wedding can be unpredictable, be prepared and plan for the unexpected.
Travel time
Travel time is the biggest thing that can slip your mind while planning your schedule. It is super important to take into consideration the travel time since there are multiple locations, especially if there is a chance you may be stuck in the Rush hour.
We encourage to maximize the time for shooting instead of travelling. Keeping locations close and easily accessible will ensure better quantity and quality photos.
Home Décor and cleanliness
We recommend having a backdrop that matches or compliments the colors of your dress for your getting ready photos. A 10ft wide backdrop can fit almost 6 people. Also, make sure there is approx. 10ft in front of the décor for the photographer to take pictures. This backdrop can also come in handy during other pre-wedding events.
You are going to be super busy on your wedding day and we totally get that! In the wedding whirlwind, you may find your getting ready location a little cluttered, especially if you are getting ready in your house. Making sure the place is clean will ensure nothing unwanted is captured in your photos. There may be other locations as well around your house to take beautiful portrait shots, especially closer to windows. Having a clean place, lets us use those locations right-away.
Have fun!
You’ve been planning your wedding for some time now and the day has come. Don’t forget to let go and enjoy! Its your wedding day! You are supposed to have fun, enjoy yourself, and above everything, GET MARRIED! Don't worry about the minutiae and if some things aren't perfect. What will guests most definitely notice? A stressed-out couple who's overwhelmed with last-minute details. By the time your wedding day rolls around, try to relax, and enjoy all the special moments with your loved ones.
